Detailed description of Inn Of The Mountain Gods
Inn Of The Mountain Gods, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Mescalero, New Mexico, high in the picturesque mountains of Mescalero, New Mexico, just outside of Ruidoso. The Mescalero Apache Tribe owns and operates the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino.
Inn Of The Mountain Gods first opened for play in 1975. The par-72 championship course was designed by Ted Robinson.
Nestled among tall pine trees under the majestic Sierra Blanca Peak is the impressive Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort Championship Golf Course. This New Mexico Golf course features an island fairway as well as fast breaking greens that are not only beautiful to see but also quite challenging to play.
The Inn Of The Mountain Gods golf course plays to 6,834 yards from the back tees. The course rating is 72.1 and the slope rating is 132.

I have ranked this course twice before and nothing has changed. Great course, great folks in the golf shop, and great vacation. It just does not get much better.

I have played over 100 rounds on this course over the last 20 years. It used to be a baragin at $50. It is now $100+ at peak Fri-Sun a.m. times. It is, without question, one of the best public golf courses in the country. Views are spectacular. Course is challenging, but fair. Course is home and host to the New Mexico Open. They can set it up to be US Open tough, which fortunately they only did once.

Though I live in Houston, I have over 100 rounds on this course over the course of the last 20 year. Not playing this course is to miss a great golf experience.

What can I say, with over 120 rounds on this course over 20+ years, I have nothing but great things to say about this course. The greens this year were in outstanding condition: the best I have ever seen, even though it has been very dry and an important creek and lake are dry. Some of the fairways suffered some burn from a rare summer freeze, but they are coming back nicely. It remains one of my favorite places in the world. Though pace of play is usually an issue here, actually finished in under four hours for the first time ever on Sunday morning.
